Taking a chance on love

I've not been around at all in the last month, because of a family bereavement and I just didn't feel like engaging in much QAF stuff (I struggled to keep entering the Gale Harold lims and was actually pretty happy to be voted out when I was!).

But I was quickly browsing my flist, saw this meme by xie_xie_xie and thought it would be a nice counter balance to the movie meme I did last month, on which I got an abysmally high score. So I may have seen a lot of movies, but I've read a lot of books too!

So I went to karaoke tonight. It was so much fun and I sang everything from Billy Joel to The Spice Girls. Out of 8 of us only one could hold a tune, lol. There might have been some alcohol involved too... It was a group of girls from work and some of them were still going strong when I left at 12:30 (we started at 9). I had never been before, but it was an exceptionally random and fun way to spend an evening.


I also saw this on my flist - The movie meme. I'm so behind on my flist but I wanted to do this one. Gakked from bookgirl24. 175 out of 243! I'd like to blame this number on being a film studies student, but I think the no life theory is probably more accurate, hee.

I always enjoy seeing these sorts of lists and thought I would post a quick list my own favourites of 2008 and some of what I’m looking forward to in ’09 :D

Here is my addition to the the qaf_icons Jeans theme :D I found this much harder than my first batch, and have used the theme fairly loosely to include pretty much any denim - I never noticed how many denim shirts and jackets there were in QAF before!

It is mostly Brian and Justin, but there is also a couple of the assorted gang too :D

I thought that since I am new to participating in fandom I would post how I found QAF.

It all started in late 2006 when I heard the band Death Cab for Cutie. I had only heard a couple of their songs and decided to have a look through YouTube for clips of their songs. One of the clips I found was this one, from a show I had heard of but never seen, mostly because I was a very sheltered 16 y/o when it started here in Oz.

I think from the opening seconds of this clip I was hooked.



I went and watched a clip of the opening 8 minutes of the series on YouTube and then refused to watch any more until I could get my hands on the DVD's and watch it properly. So I bought the DVD sets online as I could afford them (and have never been more thankful for multi-region DVD players). So finding it was a bit serendipitous but I'm so happy that I found this brilliant show.

So I bought an iphone yesterday, caving into peer pressure and shallow possession cravings. I found out how to do ringtones (It's currently Viva Colombia (Cha Cha) *loves*) and set up my contacts, but when I went to get a qaf wallpaper there weren't any anywhere.

After googling and a lot searching all I found were 2, yep just 2, generic cast iphone wallpapers. Being that I am photoshop challenged (as in, I don't even own photoshop) I eventually found a pic that was an appropriate size and looked purty -

I am a newbie to IJ, but have been something of a lurker in the LJ QAF fandom for nearly 2 years. I haven't been reading much of anything that's fanfic related until recently and decided that now was as good as time as any to move over to IJ and perhaps try my hand at writing my very own fic.

I am doing a Master of Film Studies at the moment, and am hopelessly addicted to teh love that is B/J and QAF.
